Soothe Tension, Heal Injuries, Relieve Pain, Reduce Accumulations, Improve Reproductive Health
Acupuncture and herbs are essential parts of traditional Asian or Eastern medicine, and are the most commonly recommended alternative medicine used today. My approach combines gentle acupuncture with optional electroacupuncture (micro-current attached to specific needles), manual therapies such as gua sha and cupping, warming and invigorating moxibustion, herbal medicine, lab testing, nutrition, and a genuine desire to help you feel and function better.
How Many Sessions Do I Need?
Acupuncture and herbal medicine are holistic treatments that improve the imbalances in our body, mind, and emotions. To create deep and lasting change, a series of cumulative sessions are essential. For problems you have had for years, or for injuries that need time to heal, 8-16 sessions are typical. At the end of the series we will re-evaluate your progress and recommend return visits as needed to sustain your health and well-being.
These sessions may also be used to address acute needs, such as colds, coughs, UTI's, flus, arthritis flare-ups, encouraging labor, allergic reactions, migraines, injuries, nausea in pregnancy, or to support you during challenges in your life. Many long term clients come in once a month or once per season for tune-ups. During our sessions you will have the opportunity to discuss your current concerns, to ask questions, and to receive deeply relaxing and gentle acupuncture.
What To Expect
Our first visit will be 90 minutes, and follow up visits are 50-60 minutes. When you schedule your first appointment, please fill out my online health questionnaire. I'll use that to guide us through our first and subsequent meetings. You will have acupuncture with each session, along with optional cupping or gua sha, moxa or Estim.
I also offer consultation, herbal formula recommendation, gua sha and/or cupping sessions for those who have pain or injury but don't want needles. It's my opinion that needles, gua sha/cupping, and herbs work best for most things, but for those who are terrified of needles, you can still benefit from my services.
What Is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine testing is another way to get data about a person's physiological weaknesses and strengths and guide treatment. This can be done with blood test collection, or home test kits that assess hormones, adrenals, the gut, neurotransmitters and the brain, and toxins. I use DUTCH Complete hormone testing, the GIMAP comprehensive GI test, among others. Typically, a functional medicine initial consult is one hour ,and follow ups are 30 minutes.

Learn About Eastern Medicine
Throughout this site I refer to teachers I have found along the way that do a great job of explaining the concepts of Eastern Medicine. Check out Marie Hopkinson from Australia, her youtube channel and podcasts are called Chinese Medicine Podcast.
Practices for Stress Management
Have you read or heard about the benefits of meditation, yoga, or similar practices, but found it hard to get started and be consistent with one? If we can regularly do a practice, it can help us be peaceful, and we can handle our stress better. For those feeling very stressed and too busy, I recommend restorative or yin yoga because these are the slowest forms. I encourage you to incorporate one or more practices that you truly enjoy doing; it will improve your quality of life.
