We love supporting the physical and psychological health of expecting and postpartum women with Chinese medicine. We have studied with the best mentors in the field, most of whom are contributors to the Obstetrical Acupuncture Association . We have provided our services at our clinic, at home births, as well as the hospital labor and delivery. The best time to have acupuncture during pregnancy is when you are having a hard time with any of the conditions listed below.
We address joint and back pain, sciatica, headaches, migraines, depression and anxiety, nausea, reflux, vomiting, high blood pressure, gestational diabetes, threatened miscarriage, placenta previa, low amniotic fluid, IUGR, anemia, itchy skin, fatigue, allergies, colds and immunity, low breast milk, mastitis, breech or posterior position, and labor induction. We lovingly care for you and your baby before, during, and after the birth.
What To Expect
Our first consultation is designed to get to know you. We ask very detailed questions about you; including diet, digestion, elimination, menses, sleep patterns, exercise, medications, supplements, and how you manage stress and pain. We feel your pulses, look at your tongue, explain what we find, and create a treatment plan just for you. Your treatment will include acupuncture, herbal medicine, or a combination of the two. Nearly all of our patients also receive nutritional guidance.
Acupuncture
Did you know that acupuncture has been employed as a health care modality for over 3,000 years? Myofascial work like cupping and gua sha are also important services that we offer. Modern science is still discovering the secrets of this ancient medicine with studies conducted by leading scientists, hospitals, and medical research facilities all over the world. Obstetrical acupuncture and herbs are exceptionally safe with an experienced provider. We enjoy collaborating with our patients' obstetricians and midwives, so women can have a wide range of options in pregnancy and birth.
Herbal Medicine
While acupuncture and cupping have become more widely known, herbs are the heart of Chinese medicine, and the plant and mineral-based formulas we make in our clinic have been in use for centuries. Chinese herbal medicine consists of custom herbal blends made from time-tested ingredients in pharmaceutical-grade, convenient powdered form. Our powders are easily consumed on the go, 2-3 times per day. Chinese herbal medicine is extremely safe and effective when used under the direction of a licensed professional. It is amazing how powerful this ancient medicine is today.
Nutrition
Traditional medicine encourages a whole foods, nutrient-dense diet tailored to the individual. We love traditional diets as one of the daily ways we can influence health and wellness. We give our patients' resources based on needs to fill in any gaps that may have been missed. For some women, we may suggest specific vitamins, minerals, or nutritional supplements that may be purchased in office or via our online store.
Availability and Scheduling
We schedule patients Monday through Thursday; We consult virtually and in-person with California residents. If you have questions, or are ready to make an appointment, please call our office.
