Herbal medicine is used along with acupuncture, or on it's own as its own treatment plan. When we give a patient an herbal formula for back pain, for example, it also improves their gut and the quality of sleep.

Kim Silsby is a California licensed acupuncturist and herbalist. She completed her Master's degree in Traditional Chinese Medicine at Five Branches in Santa Cruz. She has focused the majority of her career addressing women's and men's health in various settings: IVF fertility centers, women's integrative cancer centers, home births, hospital labor and delivery, and her own clinics.
Herbal and Nutritional Medicine
Kim is a trained herbalist and has an apothecary including customized granular Chinese herbs. Herbal consults and treatment plans are also available for patients who don't want acupuncture.

What To Expect
Our first consultation and treatment is designed to get to know you. We ask very detailed questions about your daily routines, including your diet, digestion, sleep patterns, exercise/movement practices, and how you manage stress and pain. We feel your pulses and look at your tongue, recommend a treatment plan designed for you. As we get to know you, we address your concerns, track your progress, and provide a continuum of care. Our first visit is just 75 minutes, and follow up visits last 50-60 minutes.
What Is Functional Medicine?
Functional medicine testing is another way to assess a person's physiological strengths & weaknesses and guide treatment. Our motto is "Test, Don't Guess." We run several tests to see where a person needs support the most. Testing can be done with a visit to a lab for a blood draw, or with home test kits. These kits are easy to use and backed by credible scientific studies. We test hormones, adrenals, the entire GI system, neurotransmitters, the brain, and toxins. We use DUTCH Complete hormone testing, the GIMAP comprehensive GI test, and the ORGANIX nutrition test. Not everyone needs functional medicine testing, but it is a service we offer as needed. Typically, a functional medicine initial consult is 15-30 minutes, and follow ups are 15 minutes.
Availability and Scheduling
Kim is available Monday through Friday and appointments are required. Clients can schedule one session at a time, or save $$ with a treatment plan package.
